This morning, March 19, 2025, the FARDC and Wazalendo launched an attack on Bilalo Mbili and Mikenke, north of Minembwe, from Point Zero. Another offensive was carried out in Murunde from Kipupu in the west. Additionally, further attacks targeted the village of Bigaragara from Rugezi and Muliza, southeast of Minembwe center.
In an interview with the CEO Officer Jean de Dieu, Ambassador of Peace for the Banyamulenge in Australia, who spoke to a journalist from CorridorReports.com, he shared his concerns about the ongoing violence. He stated:
“The Babembe, Bafulero, and Banyindu armed groups must stop these attacks. For the past eight years, these attacks have brought no positive outcomes for anyone. In fact, no one is attacking their villages in return.”
He also expressed frustration at the continued instability, saying:
“After all, we will eventually have to live together in these mountains. No one is going to drive anyone else out.”

When discussing the possibility of a ceasefire, he emphasized the need for actual implementation:
“Declaring a ceasefire is one thing, but implementing it is another. We need to be clear about what we want and commit to it fully because we cannot have it both ways.”
The ongoing violence in the region has sparked widespread concern, and as CEO Officer Jean de Dieu pointed out, the international community must take action:
“We continue to urge the international community not to turn a blind eye to the ongoing killings in Eastern DRC. This violence must be stopped, and peace must be restored.”
As the situation remains dire, many are calling for stronger intervention to protect innocent lives and bring an end to the violence plaguing Eastern DRC.
